Twitter was overwhelmed with accolades for the left chief. Among the first to tweet was President Ram Nath Kovind, Congress’ Rahul Gandhi and BJP pioneer Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Leader Narendra Modi likewise tweeted his sympathies. “I am saddened beyond words. There is a void in our nation that will perhaps never be filled. Shri Ram Vilas Paswan Ji’s demise is a personal loss. I have lost a friend, valued colleague and someone who was extremely passionate to ensure every poor person leads a life of dignity,” his post read.
Known as one of the incredible survivors in Indian legislative issues, Ram Vilas Paswan has been a priest in practically all the administrations shaped at the Center since 1989.
