Randhir Kapoor is back home from the Kapoor annual Christmas bash at Shashi Kapoor’s Juhu house and tells us, “It was very nice to be with the entire family under one roof. This year, we missed Rishi.” Rishi Kapoor used to eagerly look forward to this X’mas bash which has been a tradition in the Kapoor khaandaan. Rishi loved good food and good drinks. “Yes, and that’s a typical Kapoor trait. We missed him very much and wished he was here, today,” Randhir agreed.

“Chaiji must be very happy that the tradition started by her is being continued by the next generation,” Randhir added.

Randhir who was extremely close to Rishi (who passed away on April 30, 2020) had detailed his loss in our exclusive #BIgInterview with him, published on October 11. “We used to work together and sit in the same office. It’s an emotional loss to me. We had many common likes and dislikes. We both were fond of good food and booze. We would often party by ourselves. We would call up each other and tell each other: ‘ Kya kar raha hai? Agar tum nahin aate ho, to chalo main aa jaata hoon’. When together, humko kisiki bhi zaroorat nahi thi. We didn’t need a crowd to entertain us,” he’d said, adding that they could sit and talk together for the longest time on anything and everything. “And that’s simply because we were happy amongst ourselves. It could be even about space. We often travelled together, so sometimes that too.”

At the Christmas party, Randhir’s nephew Ranbir Kapoor came with Alia Bhatt and both looked very happy. However Neetu Kapoor could not make it. Randhir explained, “She is still not back from the North from her shoot of ‘Jug Jugg Jeeyo’. But she could be in Mumbai now anytime soon.”

Two weddings in the Kapoor family in 2021? That’s what the buzz now is. Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt and Aadar Jain-Tara Sutaria? In fact, Ranbir said in a recent interview that he would have been married to Alia if the pandemic hadn’t happened. Perhaps not wanting to confirm, Ranbir replied simply, “Let’s see.”
