A total of 292 players will go under the hammer in the Indian Premier League auction, which will be held in Chennai on February 18.
Last week, 1,114 cricketers had registered for the auction, however, the final list was pruned after the eight franchises submitted their shortlist of players. A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players and three players from Associate Nations will be up for grabs in the aution.

Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav and eight overseas players – Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood – have chosen to be slotted in the highest bracket of Rs 2 crore.
A total of players are in the auction list with a base price of Rs 1.5 crore. Hanuma Vihari and Umesh Yadav are the two Indian players in the list of 11 cricketers with a base price of Rs 1 crore.
Malan in fray
Top-ranked batsman in international T20s, Dawid Malan, with a base price of ₹1.5 crore, has been drawn in the second set of players to be auctioned. While Malan is expected to be a hot pick this year, it will be interesting to see whether Smith (Rs 2 crore) and Shakib (Rs 2 crore) will draw interest from the franchises. While Smith has been released by Rajasthan Royals, allrounder Shakib has returned to competitive cricket after serving a suspension for breaching anti-corruption code.
Nayan Doshi – the oldest cricketer in this auction
The 42-year-old spinner Nayan Doshi will be the oldest cricketer to go under the hammer in this year’s IPL auction. Son of former India cricketer, Dilip Doshi, Nayan has set himself a base price of Rs 20 lakh. In 70 first-class and 74 List A appearances, Nayan has scalped 166 and 64 wickets respectively. Born in Nottingham, Nayan has been a regular in English county cricket and was previously a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals.
